WANA (Sep 24) – Iraq’s Kata’ib Hezbollah has condemned U.S. sanctions against Iran and called on the Iraqi public to support Iranian products and expand trade with Iran in response to what it described as an “economic blockade” against the country.

In a statement, the group described the U.S. sanctions as a “dirty weapon,” saying Washington had turned to economic measures and what it called a “food blockade” after failing to achieve its objectives through military means.

Kata’ib Hezbollah also criticized companies and parties that cooperate with the implementation of U.S. sanctions against Iran, accusing them of disregarding historical ties and past support among regional countries.

The group further called on senior Shiite religious authorities to clarify the religious ruling on cooperation with measures that, in its view, contribute to the “blockade and starvation” of the Iranian people.
