WANA (Aug 31) – Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said an attack on Lark Island in Hormozgan Province that killed and wounded several military personnel and civilians will be met with a response from Iran.

 

In a statement, the IRGC described the attack as an act of aggression by the United States and Israel, saying it was carried out as part of an effort to restore their regional influence and shape public opinion.

 

The IRGC said the attack on Lark Island resulted in the deaths and injuries of several Iranian military personnel and civilians. It stressed that the attack would be “answered by the sons of Iran” and would be followed by what it called the “punishment of the aggressor.”

 

Brigadier General Hossein Mohebi, an IRGC spokesman, also reacted to the incident in a post on X, saying: “The terrorist enemy’s aggression against Lark Island will be met with a response and the punishment of the aggressor.”

 

Initial Reports Point to Drone Strike on Lark Island

Meanwhile, initial reports indicated that a drone strike had targeted a location on Lark Island. According to Iranian media reports, the attack took place about an hour earlier, while local residents also reported hearing an explosion in the vicinity of the island.

 

Some preliminary and unconfirmed reports said that two people had been killed and two others wounded in the attack. However, no official figures on casualties had been released at the time of reporting.

 

Local reports also said an explosion was heard near Lark Island, although the exact location and cause of the blast were not immediately clear.
