IRGC Launches Joint Missile and Drone Strike on U.S. Base in Jordan
WANA (Jul 18) – The Public Relations Department of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) issued Statement No. 29, announcing a coordinated missile and drone strike against specialized aircraft shelters and a major staging ramp at a U.S. military base in Muwaffaq Salti Air Base (Al-Azraq), Jordan.
According to the statement, the pre-dawn operation was executed by the IRGC Aerospace Force as part of “Wave 20 of Operation Nasr-2,” utilizing the code “Ya Abolfazl al-Abbas.” The strike was launched in direct response to recent U.S. military actions targeting Iranian civilian infrastructure.
The IRGC claimed that the high-volume barrage completely destroyed at least two U.S. fighter jets and three additional aircraft, while inflicting severe structural damage on several other military assets parked at the installation.
Retaliation Against Alleged U.S. War Crimes
The IRGC statement asserted that the continuous operations by Iranian forces have left the United States facing tactical defeats in face-to-face combat, allegedly forcing the U.S. military to resort to attacking non-military targets.
The military statement accused American forces of committing war crimes by executing destructive strikes on hospitals, bridges, railways, ports, and airports, alongside killing civilians to mask their battlefield setbacks.
The IRGC invoked the Quranic directive on proportional retaliation (“Whoever commits aggression against you, respond with aggression in the same manner”), framing the strike as a legitimate and calculated defensive measure.
Direct Appeal to the Jordanian People and Military
The statement addressed the citizens and army of Jordan, drawing a parallel between Iran’s public resilience and the current duty of the Jordanian people.
The IRGC cited fatwas from Islamic scholars across all schools of thought, declaring that “infidel military forces invading Islamic lands are Mahdoor al-Dam (those whose blood may be legally spilled).”
The statement concluded by listing the locations of historical U.S. military interventions—including Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, Yemen, Lebanon, Libya, Sudan, the Philippines, and Palestine—and called on the people and military of Jordan to use any means to eliminate these forces from their land, concluding with the verse: “If you support Allah, He will support you and plant your feet firmly.”
