IRGC Navy Launches Heavy Missile and Drone Strikes on U.S. Bases in Region
WANA (Mar 14) – The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy announced that U.S. military bases in the region came under heavy missile and drone fire early today as part of the 49th wave of Operation “True Promise 4.”
According to the statement, the attacks were carried out in three assault formations targeting what the IRGC described as American “terrorist bases” in the region.
During the operation, Iranian missile and drone units struck the Al Dhafra Air Base, targeting Patriot radar systems, the control tower, and air defense hangars with explosive drones and precision-guided ballistic missiles.
The Sheikh Isa Air Base was also hit by various missiles and drones. The IRGC said the base’s early warning radars, aircraft hangars, central ramp, and fuel storage tanks were destroyed and set on fire.
In addition, the Al Udeiri helicopter base was targeted by missile and drone strikes. According to the statement, equipment depots, gathering areas, and helicopter maintenance hangars at the base were destroyed.
The IRGC Navy further stated that the Strait of Hormuz is under its “full and intelligent control,” warning that the passage of oil tankers and commercial vessels belonging to what it described as aggressor states and their allies remains prohibited and that any movement or transit could be targeted.
Earlier, Rear Admiral Alireza Tangsiri, commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy, announced new attacks on three U.S. bases in the region. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Tangsiri wrote:
“A report to the noble people of Iran! Specific and key targets at the U.S. bases of Al Dhafra, Sheikh Isa, and Al Udeiri were attacked in several successive waves by the brave sailors of the Navy. Patriot radars, the control tower, aircraft hangars, aircraft, the central ramp, and fuel storage tanks for aircraft were among the targets that were set ablaze.”
