WANA (Aug 17) – The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran, in a statement, emphasized that “the Iranian nation, today at the height of experience, faith, and multiplied power, stands ready to crush any aggressor and every sinister plot against the security and future of its homeland.”

The statement reads:

“August 17, marking the anniversary of the triumphant return of our proud freed prisoners of war to the warm embrace of the Islamic homeland, is a reminder of divine patience, iron will, and steadfast faith that, even in the most difficult tests, raised high the banner of dignity and honor for the Iranian nation.

These humble yet heroic figures, not only during captivity bravely and firmly thwarted the schemes of the Ba’athist enemy and its Western and Eastern backers, but after their return, through their active and inspiring presence in scientific, cultural, managerial, social, and developmental arenas, became driving forces for the lofty goals of the Islamic Revolution and played lasting roles in advancing the nation’s civilizational path.

Our noble freed prisoners are the true symbol of active resistance and strategic hope — the very reality that manifested itself during the eight-year Sacred Defense, the recent 12-day battle, the steadfastness of the Palestinian resistance front, and the repeated defeats of the Zionist regime and its American allies in the region. Their experience proved that the power of faith, national unity, and revolutionary endurance can bring even the mightiest war machines and hegemonic policies to their knees.

The IRGC, while honoring the memory of the martyrs of the Sacred Defense — from the battlefronts against the Ba’athist enemy to the prison cells of Saddam’s tyrannical regime — reaffirms its eternal covenant with the ideals of Imam Khomeini (may his soul rest in peace), the Supreme Leader (may his shadow be extended), and the noble people of Iran. Inspired by the legacy of the freed prisoners, it stresses that the great and honorable Iranian nation stands more determined than ever on the path toward building a new Islamic civilization and confronting any hegemonic or Zionist threats and conspiracies.

Let the enemies of Iran and the Iranian people know: the very nation whose sons, while chained in the enemy’s captivity, cast aside the flag of surrender and raised the banner of dignity, today, fortified with glorious experience, stronger faith, and multiplied power, is fully prepared to shatter the front of any aggressor and foil any malicious scheme against its security and future.

By God’s grace and relying on His promise of victory, just as our freed prisoners escaped the shackles of captivity, the oppressed nations of the region — through resistance and Islamic awakening — will drive out the Zionist and American occupiers from their lands and expand the geography of resistance until the ultimate victory of the Islamic Ummah.”
