IRGC Says It Shot Down 52nd U.S. MQ-9 Drone
WANA (Sep 16) – Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said early Wednesday that its Aerospace Force had intercepted and destroyed a U.S. MQ-9 drone over Qeshm Island.
The IRGC said the drone was downed at 2:29 a.m. local time using a new air-defense system operating under Iran’s integrated air-defense network.
In recent days, the IRGC has intercepted and destroyed some other drones too. Early Tuesday, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said a MQ-1 drone belonging to an “adversary” was intercepted and shot down over the western part of the Strait of Hormuz.
According to the IRGC’s public relations office, the drone was detected, intercepted, and destroyed by a new air defense system operated by the IRGC Aerospace Force under the control of Iran’s integrated air defense network.
