WANA (Mar 29) – The public relations office of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced that a Boeing E-3 Sentry—valued at $700 million and commonly known as AWACS—was targeted while attempting to evade attacks by IRGC naval and aerospace forces.

According to the statement, the aircraft was struck by a Shahed 136 drone, which not only hit the large and costly aircraft but also caused serious damage to other nearby aerial assets.

The IRGC statement added that the Shahed-136 reflects Quranic verses, including: “And you did not throw when you threw, but Allah threw,” and “How many a small group has overcome a large group by permission of Allah.”
