WANA (Aug 23) – The spokesperson for Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has stressed that Iran is prepared to respond to hostile U.S. actions, saying that scenarios have been developed to counter any move by Washington, including economic warfare.

 

Brigadier General Mohbi, referring to the U.S. president’s remarks about launching the “most severe economic war” against Iran, said the statement was an implicit acknowledgment of the enemy’s failure in the military arena.

 

He said that if the United States had achieved a military victory, there would have been no need to launch an economic war, adding that Iran has faced economic warfare and extensive sanctions for nearly 47 years, with various sectors of its economy targeted.

 

The IRGC spokesman said the main purpose of the current U.S. measures was to shape public perceptions and create the belief that Washington would emerge victorious from the confrontation.

 

Mohbi said Iran also has plans to counter the effects of economic warfare and can maintain and expand economic ties with various countries.

 

“We have economic interactions right under America’s nose. We are bypassing the United States, and you will see the results in the near future,” he said.

 

He added that Iran has no serious concerns about its economic situation and argued that the United States is seeking to convince Iran that Washington is winning the confrontation.
