WANA (Sep 02) – The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Ground Force launched a combined missile and drone strike targeting a U.S. military base in Erbil, Iraq, according to IRGC Announcement No. 6.

 

The operation destroyed a maintenance center, technical equipment warehouses, and the guidance system for a U.S. surveillance aerostat balloon at the base. The strike also set the facility’s fuel storage tanks on fire, resulting in multiple casualties among U.S. forces.

 

Addressing the Muslim people of Iraqi Kurdistan, the IRGC framed the attack as direct retribution for a U.S. strike on a wedding gathering of a young Sunni couple in Sirik, which left around 70 innocent civilians dead or wounded, including four killed and a child.

 

The statement urged the regional population not to allow their territory to be used as a staging ground for U.S. military operations, asserting that American forces must be expelled from the area.
