WANA (Jul 17) – The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced on Friday that its ground forces launched a series of missile and drone strikes targeting U.S. military assets in Kuwait and anti-Iran militant bases in northern Iraq.

 

In a statement designated as Announcement No. 23, the IRGC Public Relations department declared that the operations were carried out in retaliation for recent military actions against Iran. According to the statement, IRGC Ground Forces launched the 15th wave of “Operation Nasr 2,” utilizing drones and missiles to target and destroy U.S. HIMARS rocket launchers stationed in Kuwait.

 

The IRGC statement added that the strikes also targeted several positions housing U.S. troops and “counter-revolutionary mercenaries allied with America and Israel,” claiming that numerous U.S. special forces and militant fighters were killed. The IRGC warned that its retaliatory operations are ongoing.

 

In a related development, Iraqi media outlets reported that Iranian missile strikes targeted the headquarters of the Komala militant group in the mountainous regions of Sulaymaniyah in northern Iraq early Friday morning.

 

According to local sources cited by the outlet, at least eight Komala members were killed in the bombardment. Rescue teams have reportedly faced difficulties retrieving the bodies due to the rugged terrain and the location of the casualties inside mountainous caves.

 

The report added that several other militants were injured, some critically, while others remain missing under the rubble of the destroyed positions. Local Kurdish media broadcast footage showing fires burning across the targeted mountainous heights following the missile strikes.
