IRGC Tests Shahed-161 Drone Engine
WANA (Nov 12) – Specialists from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Aerospace Force tested the engine of the Shahed-161 unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) during the ongoing exhibition of the force’s achievements at the Aerospace National Park.
The Shahed-161, one of the IRGC Aerospace Force’s indigenous drone developments, is designed for reconnaissance, surveillance, and combat missions. The UAV features the following specifications:
- Operational range: 150 kilometers
- Takeoff weight: 170 kilograms
- Endurance: 2 hours
- Service ceiling: 26,000 feet
- Cruising speed: 135 kilometers per hour
The drone utilizes a vehicle-mounted launcher system for takeoff and is capable of carrying two bombs weighing up to 50 kilograms each. It can also be fitted with optical payloads for reconnaissance purposes.
The IRGC Aerospace Achievements Exhibition remains open to the public until Saturday, November 14, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. local time, allowing visitors to view a range of missile, drone, space, and air defense technologies developed by the force.
