WANA (Jul 14) – The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said that two supertankers were hit and disabled after allegedly turning off their navigation systems, ignoring repeated warnings from the Strait of Hormuz maritime security control center, and attempting to pass through a designated route.

 

In a statement, the IRGC’s public relations office said that its naval forces remain committed to “protecting Iran’s rights in the Strait of Hormuz” and that, in recent hours, the U.S. military had attempted to guide several vessels through what it described as an unauthorized route.

 

According to the statement, the two supertankers, which the IRGC described as “violating vessels” that had been “misled,” were struck after disabling their navigation systems, disregarding repeated warnings from the Strait of Hormuz security control center, and choosing to pass through what the IRGC called a “mined route.”

 

The IRGC further warned that cooperation with foreign forces that, according to the statement, had entered the region “from thousands of kilometers away” could have consequences. It added that using routes designated as unsafe could lead to damage, delays in the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, and increased concerns over global energy security.

 

The IRGC emphasized that its naval forces would continue to focus on controlling and securing maritime routes in the Strait of Hormuz, describing its actions as measures aimed at safeguarding Iran’s interests.
