IRGC: Two US Vessels, Eight Tankers, and Ten Non-Compliant Ships Targeted in Strait of Hormuz
WANA (Sep 09) – The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Public Relations department issued a statement, announcing that its naval forces have targeted multiple foreign vessels, including U.S. naval assets and commercial ships, attempting to transit the Strait of Hormuz.
The official communique began with praise for the Iranian public, commending the nation for showing resilience and insight through nearly 190 days of continuous support for the armed forces. IRGC officials emphasized that naval units continue to maintain full control over the strategic waterway to protect national interests and maritime security.
According to the IRGC, the operation was conducted in direct retaliation for recent aggressive actions by the U.S. military, which Tehran accuses of targeting five Iranian oil tankers in the Persian Gulf. In response, IRGC naval forces engaged two U.S. vessels and eight oil tankers in the area, claiming to have inflicted heavy damage on the targets.
Additionally, ten commercial ships were targeted for attempting to navigate through what Iran has designated a restricted and unsafe zone within the Strait of Hormuz.
The IRGC stated that these non-compliant vessels were attempting the transit under the encouragement and support of U.S. forces.
The statement concluded with the IRGC Navy reaffirming its complete oversight and authority over the Strait of Hormuz, emphasizing that the strategic choke point remains under strong and active military monitoring.
