WANA (Feb 28) – The Public Relations Office of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced that a U.S. MST combat support vessel was heavily struck by missiles fired by the IRGC Navy.

 

The IRGC Public Relations Office stated: “The U.S. MST combat support vessel was severely hit by missiles from the IRGC Navy.”
The statement continued: “Honorable people of Iran, the U.S. MST combat support vessel has been heavily struck by missiles of the Navy of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.”

 

It also added: “Other U.S. Army maritime assets will remain within range of the IRGC’s missiles and drones as the attacks continue.”

While the Islamic Republic of Iran was on a path of serious and diplomatic negotiations with the United States, in the early hours of Saturday, 28 February 2026, the United States and the Israeli regime carried out what was described as an aggressive, illegal act in violation of the United Nations Charter, attacking Iranian territory and targeting several locations in different cities across the country. The attack occurred while diplomatic talks were ongoing and hopes for de-escalation existed.

 

Following this overt act of aggression, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced in a statement that, in response to the hostile and criminal action against the Islamic Republic of Iran, the first wave of large-scale missile and drone attacks toward the occupied territories had begun.

 

The Government Information Council also emphasized in an official statement: “The Zionist regime, in cooperation with the U.S. government, has once again attacked the sacred soil of our country in the midst of negotiations—an action that demonstrates their primary aim is to undermine Iran’s territorial integrity, national sovereignty, and unity.”

 

Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, in its first statement after what it described as the brutal attack, announced that the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran have begun a decisive response to the enemy’s malicious actions, and that full responsibility for the consequences of this aggression will lie with the United States and the Israeli regime.
