WANA (Jun 29) – The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy has once again warned vessels transiting the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz that all maritime traffic must use the shipping route designated by Iran, stating that any vessel departing from this route will bear full responsibility for the consequences.

 

The designated navigation corridor, located south of Larak Island, remains the only approved route for vessel transit, with the IRGC Navy continuing to oversee compliance with these navigation procedures.

 

A captain of a commercial vessel, who had recently resolved an operational issue after contacting the Hormozgan Ports and Maritime Administration, told a reporter that the route designated by Iran was “like a standard, well-paved highway.” He contrasted it with the route that, according to him, U.S. forces encourage some vessels to use in the southern Persian Gulf, describing it as “a rough dirt road filled with obstacles.”

 

According to the IRGC Navy, all vessels are required to coordinate with the relevant authorities before transiting and must use only the designated maritime corridor. The force stressed that any ship violating these instructions would bear full responsibility for any resulting consequences.

 

Officials said the purpose of these measures is to ensure the safety of maritime navigation and maintain orderly vessel traffic through one of the world’s most strategically important waterways.
