WANA (Mar 23) – Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has issued a stark warning to the United States, saying it will respond to any threat proportionately, amid escalating tensions in the region.

In a statement released by its public relations office, the IRGC accused the U.S. president of making false claims that Iranian forces intend to target desalination facilities in the region and disrupt civilian access to water.

Rejecting the allegation, the IRGC said it has not carried out any such attacks, instead accusing the United States of initiating conflict through strikes that have allegedly targeted civilians and critical infrastructure. The statement claimed that several water-related facilities—including a desalination plant on Qeshm Island—had been hit.

The IRGC also accused Washington of threatening Iran’s power infrastructure, warning that such actions would disrupt essential civilian services, including hospitals, emergency centers, and water supply systems.

According to the statement, Iran has communicated that any attack on its power plants would be met with retaliatory strikes. These would target power infrastructure in Israel, as well as in regional countries that supply electricity to U.S. bases, along with economic, industrial, and energy assets linked to American interests.

The statement further emphasized that, despite alleged attacks on hospitals, schools, and emergency facilities in Iran, the country had refrained from responding in kind. However, it warned that any strike on Iran’s electricity network would trigger a direct response.

“We are determined to respond to any threat at the same level in a way that maintains deterrence,” the statement said, adding that the United States “does not fully understand Iran’s capabilities” and would see them demonstrated “on the field.”
