WANA (Apr 12) – Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy (IRGCN) has reportedly issued a warning to a United States Navy destroyer operating in the eastern waters of the Strait of Hormuz, instructing it to alter its course or face potential targeting.

According to Iranian media reports, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps naval forces contacted the US destroyer designated “121” and demanded that it immediately change direction and return toward the Indian Ocean. The IRGCN reportedly warned that failure to comply with instructions could result in the vessel being targeted.

During the radio exchange, an IRGC Navy personnel identified himself and ordered the US warship to leave the area, emphasizing that it was operating in a sensitive maritime zone. He further stated that it was the “final warning” issued to the vessel.

In response, the US vessel reportedly identified itself as part of a coalition naval force and stated that it was transiting the area in accordance with international law, adding that it had no intention of causing escalation or confrontation.

The Iranian side reiterated its warning, stressing that all foreign military vessels in the region should maintain a safe distance of at least 10 nautical miles, and urged vessels operating in the Sea of Oman to avoid proximity to Iranian-controlled areas.
