The incident was quickly labelled by some opposition media outlets as a “hack” of IRIB, a claim officials say is inaccurate and aimed at media exploitation.

According to the official, while IRIB’s broadcast signal was being transmitted, a high-power interfering carrier originating outside the country was sent on the same frequency.
As the strength of the interfering signal increased, it temporarily overrode the original broadcast content.
It appears that the interference also affected Intelsat, as the disruptive signal overlapped the satellite’s transmission, indicating that the issue extended beyond IRIB’s broadcasting infrastructure.
