Islamabad Four-Nation Consensus: Diplomacy the Only Path to End the War
WANA (Mar 30) – A four-nation meeting of the foreign ministers of Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Egypt concluded with a unified stance that diplomacy and dialogue remain the only viable path to ending the ongoing war and achieving lasting peace in the region.
The meeting, held in Islamabad as the second round of consultative talks among the four countries, featured in-depth discussions on the latest regional developments and possible ways to secure a sustainable ceasefire. The ministers expressed deep concern over the humanitarian and economic consequences of the conflict, warning that continued violence would only escalate instability and increase civilian casualties.
According to the joint statement, the participants agreed that the war benefits no party and leads only to destruction and loss of life. They emphasized the urgent need to de-escalate tensions and prevent further military confrontation, while also calling for the creation of conditions necessary for structured negotiations between the involved parties.
A key focus of the meeting was Pakistan’s initiative to host potential talks between Iran and the United States. In this regard, the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Egypt voiced full support for Islamabad’s role as a facilitator in promoting dialogue between the two sides.
The ministers also underscored the importance of unity among Muslim countries in addressing regional challenges and stressed the need to strengthen multilateral cooperation. As part of these efforts, they agreed to establish a joint committee of senior foreign ministry officials to develop practical frameworks for expanding cooperation and implementing agreed measures.
In parallel diplomatic efforts, Pakistan’s foreign minister reported consultations with international actors, including China and the United Nations Secretary-General, noting broad support for the peace initiative.
The Islamabad meeting follows an earlier round of talks held in Riyadh and reflects ongoing regional efforts to reduce tensions, advance diplomatic solutions, and ultimately bring an end to the war in the Middle East.
