Israel Arrests Palestinian Woman Suspected of Spying for Iran
WANA (Aug 18) – The Israeli media reported that Israeli security forces have arrested a 24-year-old Palestinian woman on suspicion of spying for Iran.
According to the report, the woman was detained on allegations of “communicating with an Iranian operative and carrying out tasks on their behalf.” It is said on Monday that a military court has extended her detention for eight days to allow further investigation.
The report stated that she was arrested on August 6 by Israeli forces operating in the West Bank, referred to by Israel as the Judea and Samaria region. She resides in the city of Beit Umar, about seven miles northwest of Hebron.
Israeli authorities claim that during interrogation, the woman initially confessed to some of the charges and disclosed information about her contact with a “hostile entity,” later admitting to all allegations.
Nearly two years ago, Israel arrested three Palestinians and two Arab-Israelis suspected of spying for Iran, including targeting senior Israeli politicians such as Interior Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir.
The military prosecution has requested the court to allow investigations to continue in order to gather more evidence against the Palestinian woman accused of espionage.
The announcement comes amid a series of recent Israeli security detentions over alleged “links to Iran,” many of which have remained at the media-claim stage without subsequent legal transparency.
