WANA (Jun 08) – The Karoon Petrochemical Company, located in the Mahshahr Petrochemical Special Economic Zone in southwestern Iran, was targeted in an aerial assault early this morning, provincial officials confirmed.

 

The Deputy Governor for Security and Law Enforcement Affairs of Khuzestan Province, Valiollah Hayati, told reporters in a brief statement that the facility sustained partial damage after being struck by hostile projectiles.

 

Hayati emphasized that, as of the time of reporting, no casualties or injuries have been registered as a result of the strike. He added that further details regarding the extent of the structural damage would be released following a comprehensive assessment.

 

Explosions were heard across the special economic zone hours prior to the official briefing. According to the Public Relations and Emergency Spokesperson for the Petrochemical Special Economic Zone Organization, the facility was struck twice at approximately 7:30 AM local time during the assault, which local authorities attributed to joint American-Israeli action.

 

Emergency teams confirmed that no site personnel were injured, and technical teams are currently evaluating the impact on operations.

 

Reports indicate that, simultaneously with the aerial attack on the industrial hub, several Iranian missiles were launched toward targeted areas.
