Israeli Couple Arrested for Alleged Espionage for Iran
WANA (Jul 01) – According to Israeli media reports, a man and woman in their 30s were arrested in the Israeli settlement of Ra’anana, northeast of Tel Aviv in occupied Palestine, on charges of espionage and transferring classified information to Iran.
The Shin Bet (Israel’s internal security agency) claimed the two were involved in passing sensitive and classified intelligence to Iranian entities.
According to the report, officers from the Crime Fighting Unit (CFU) of the Israeli police in the Sharon District raided the couple’s residence on Monday, seizing multiple phones, computers, tech devices, and documents allegedly linked to communications with Iranian contacts.
Authorities stated that a covert investigation into the couple’s alleged espionage activities had begun last week in cooperation with the Shin Bet.
The two were interrogated at the Sharon Regional Police headquarters and are scheduled to appear in court today for a detention extension hearing.
Israeli police claimed the alleged spying occurred during the ongoing war with Iran and amid missile attacks on Tel Aviv.
Additional Arrests Linked to Iran
In a related development, three more individuals were reportedly detained on Monday in two separate cases, also on suspicion of spying for Iran.
In the first case, 33-year-old Mark Morgan from the Jordan Valley was arrested for allegedly carrying out tasks assigned by Iranian operatives.
In the second case, two young men—18-year-old Yoni Segal and 20-year-old Omer Mizrahi from Tiberias—were arrested for allegedly planning an assassination in exchange for hundreds of thousands of shekels.
The arrests come in the wake of heightened tensions between Iran and Israel. Following Israel’s recent attacks on Tehran and several Iranian cities on June 13, 2025, which resulted in the deaths of military commanders, scientists, and civilians, Iran launched a forceful retaliation.
