Israeli Media: Iran Penetrates Our Military Bases
WANA (Nov 22) – Recent arrests of numerous Israelis suspected of spying for Iran have forced Israeli media to acknowledge Tehran’s significant intelligence infiltration.
The arrest of 22-year-old soldier Rafael Reuveni on charges of espionage for Iran has once again sparked debate among experts and media in Israel about Iranian intelligence penetration within the country.
On Thursday, The Times of Israel reported that Reuveni allegedly maintained contact with an Iranian intelligence operative, sending videos from near his home, a bus station, and a shopping center in southern Israel. Israeli sources also claimed that the soldier sent a photo of his military ID and shared information about the base where he served.
Reuveni was stationed at one of Israel’s most sensitive military bases in Hatzerim, raising concerns among Israelis about the breadth of Iranian infiltration. According to Al-Alam news network, Israel’s Channel 15 admitted that “Iranian intelligence has penetrated the most sensitive army bases, including the strategic air force base of Israel.”
A Channel 15 journalist highlighted that Reuveni served at Hatzerim, a strategic air force base, and had been in contact with Iranian agents for an extended period, spying for them. The journalist noted that Reuveni was reportedly unrepentant and willing to do anything for money, even at the cost of Israel’s security.
Channel 15 also cited Israeli officials warning of extensive Iranian infiltration within Israel’s military structure. According to the report, around 50 espionage indictments have been issued in recent months, 5 of which involved active Israeli soldiers.
