WANA (Jul 15) – An Israeli military court has sentenced an Israel Defense Forces (IDF) soldier to five years in prison after convicting him of contacting a foreign agent and transmitting sensitive military footage to an Iranian intelligence operative in exchange for financial payment.

 

According to a report by Yedioth Ahronoth, the soldier was sentenced following a plea bargain in which he confessed to establishing contact with a foreign agent and passing information that could benefit the enemy.

 

The case was uncovered following a joint counterintelligence investigation conducted by the Military Police, the IDF’s counter-collaboration unit, and the Shin Bet internal security service.

 

According to the indictment, the soldier received messages on his Telegram account in 2025 from various individuals, including figures linked to Iranian intelligence, offering various “job opportunities.”

 

The soldier subsequently filmed and sent two videos of missile interceptions during military operations to an Iranian operative. Yedioth Ahronoth reported that the soldier received a monetary payment in exchange for at least one of the transmitted videos.

 

In addition to the five-year prison sentence, the military court ordered the soldier to pay a fine of 1,000 Shekels and demoted him to the rank of private.
