WANA (Jun 13) – Following Israel’s early morning attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities, the spokesperson for the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran announced that the damage inflicted so far has been limited and largely superficial. Behrouz Kamalvandi, speaking to the media, stated that while a full assessment is still underway, initial observations indicate surface-level damage, with the underground sections of Natanz and Fordow remaining unharmed.

He added that Iran had repeatedly warned the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) about Israeli threats: “We sent several letters to the IAEA Director General regarding Israel’s threats, but received no response. Not only did he ignore them, he even justified the threats in an interview.”

Kamalvandi described the recent report by Rafael Grossi, the IAEA Director General, as “politically motivated and biased,” claiming that Western governments and international institutions are acting in a coordinated effort to pressure Iran.

He also noted that he personally visited the Fordow site, while Mohammad Eslami, head of the Atomic Energy Organization, inspected Natanz. “No incident occurred at Fordow, and in Natanz the event was confined to surface-level structures. Fortunately, there were no casualties,” Kamalvandi said.

Regarding potential contamination, Kamalvandi explained: “There are no signs of chemical or radiological contamination outside the facilities. Some internal areas, however, require decontamination.”

He concluded by saying, “Thanks to their underground design, the Natanz and Fordow facilities remain structurally safe, and all operations are continuing as usual.”

In the early hours of Friday, June 13, 2025, a coordinated terrorist attack by the Israeli regime targeted Tehran and several other Iranian cities. The assault resulted in the deaths of a number of military commanders, scientists, and civilians.

In response to what was described as a crime by the Israeli regime, Iran’s Supreme Leader issued a message to the Iranian nation, declaring: “The regime must await a harsh punishment. By God’s will, the powerful hand of the Islamic Republic’s armed forces will not let it go unpunished.”
