Israeli’s Attack on Evin Prison Has Left 71 Dead So Far
WANA (Jun 29) – The spokesperson for Iran’s Judiciary announced that, according to official figures, 71 people have so far been killed in the Israeli regime’s terrorist attack on Evin Prison. The victims include prison staff, conscript soldiers, inmates, their visiting family members, and residents living near the facility.
Asghar Jahangir, speaking on Sunday, said the Israeli regime had committed a “full-fledged crime” in this attack, adding that even the neighbors living near the visitation hall and the prison’s judicial offices were severely affected.
Jahangir stated that the neighboring areas of Evin Prison suffered both heavy material damage and physical injuries. “The missile strike on Evin caused extensive financial and bodily harm to people living close to the visitation and judicial buildings, and sadly, among the local residents, we also have martyrs,” he said.
He further explained that, at the time of the attack, several families had come to the prison either for visitation or to follow up on their relatives’ cases. “Unfortunately, the visitation area was struck, and several people who were present were either wounded or killed,” he noted.
Jahangir added that a number of people were injured in the incident — some treated on-site, others hospitalized, and many have since been discharged after receiving full medical care.
The terrorist attack on Evin Prison by the Israeli regime on June 23, 2025, once again demonstrated its disregard for international law. In violation of international and humanitarian norms, the regime deliberately targeted several prison buildings, including the medical center, the engineering unit, the visitation hall, and the judicial offices.
