WANA (Oct 29) – Japan’s Foreign Minister expressed appreciation for the Iranian Foreign Minister’s congratulatory message on his appointment, emphasizing the need for cooperation to further strengthen the historic and friendly ties between Japan and Iran. He wrote that “multi-layered and constructive dialogues between Japan and Iran, based on the two countries’ longstanding friendship, are ongoing.”

 

In a post on his X account, Toshimitsu Motegi, Japan’s newly appointed Foreign Minister, thanked Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s Foreign Minister, for his congratulatory message and stated: “Multi-layered and constructive dialogues between Japan and Iran, grounded in our longstanding and friendly relations, are continuously underway.”

 

Motegi added: “I also look forward to holding close consultations with you, as one of Iran’s distinguished statesmen with deep understanding of Japan.”

 

He further noted: “I sincerely hope to work with you to further strengthen the historic and friendly ties between Japan and Iran, which have been built through the efforts of our predecessors.”

 

In the concluding part of his message, the Japanese Foreign Minister referred to the importance of peace and stability in West Asia for the international community, including Japan, and underscored Iran’s constructive role in this regard. He affirmed: “Japan intends to continue its diplomatic efforts toward peace and stability in the Middle East.”

 

Earlier, on October 21, Iran’s Foreign Minister had congratulated Motegi on his appointment in a message posted on X, stating: “I am confident that, relying on your distinguished background and valuable experience, the friendly relations and longstanding cooperation between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the friendly nation of Japan will deepen and expand further. Drawing on my own experience during my tenure as ambassador to Tokyo, I hope that during your term, political, economic, and cultural interactions between our two countries will develop in an atmosphere of mutual trust and understanding, contributing effectively to the realization of our shared bilateral and international goals.”

Iran and Japan
