WANA (Aug 19) – Kazem Gharibabadi, Deputy Foreign Minister for International Affairs, stated that the 1953 coup constituted a direct intervention by the United States and the United Kingdom against the Iranian nation’s will and its right to self-determination.

 

He emphasized that this history can neither be whitewashed nor forgotten, asserting that foreign interference in a nation’s destiny amounts to colonialism and a violation of popular sovereignty.

 

Reflecting on the legacy of foreign intervention, Gharibabadi noted that while generations pass, the fundamental truth remains that any country which surrenders control of its destiny to foreign powers pays a heavy price.

 

He highlighted that today’s Iran determines its own path, declaring that the Iranian nation will not back down under pressure and will stand even firmer against imposition and threats.
