WANA (Apr 19) – Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Saeed Khatibzadeh, speaking on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum, dismissed the possibility of transferring enriched nuclear materials to the United States, calling the demand “non-negotiable.”

Stalled Negotiations and “Excessive Demands”

Khatibzadeh noted that while numerous messages have been exchanged between Tehran and Washington, a second round of talks remains uncertain due to U.S. “excessive demands.”

“We have not yet reached a point for a real meeting because there are issues where the Americans have not retreated from their maximalist positions,” he stated.

He emphasized that Iran seeks to finalize a framework agreement before committing to an in-person summit.

Ceasefire and Regional Security

The Deputy Minister reaffirmed Iran’s stance on regional stability, stating that Tehran has accepted a ceasefire and informed all parties that it must be comprehensive, specifically including Lebanon.

New Directives for the Strait of Hormuz

Addressing the strategic waterway, Khatibzadeh said that new protocols are being developed:

“New directives for the Strait of Hormuz will be established as part of the negotiations,” he said, adding that the Strait “will remain open and safe for the passage of all civilians.”
