WANA (Jun 03) – Esmail Kowsari, a member of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, said recent experience has shown that Washington cannot be trusted and that Iran’s armed forces should respond more forcefully and decisively to what he described as hostile U.S. actions.

Kowsari referred to a recent statement issued by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) warning of tougher responses to hostile actions by the United States. Speaking to state television, he said that while American officials publicly talk about negotiations and ceasefires, their actions on the ground often contradict those claims.

“Their behavior is completely inconsistent with their rhetoric and reflects a deceptive and hostile approach,” Kowsari said.

He argued that the IRGC’s warning about stronger measures should be taken seriously, adding that past experience has demonstrated that the United States “understands only the language of force and power.”

The lawmaker also pointed to what he described as recent hostile actions by the United States, including an attack on an oil tanker and damage to an Iranian offshore platform near Qeshm Island. He said such incidents require stronger deterrent responses.

“Although the actions taken by Iran’s armed forces in recent days are commendable, a firmer response is needed so that the enemy clearly understands that the only option is to respect Iran’s strength,” he said.

Kowsari further argued that Iran has repeatedly demonstrated its resilience in the face of external pressure. He cited the country’s eight-year war with Iraq in the 1980s and what he referred to as the recent “12-day war” as examples of Iran’s ability to withstand challenges and project strength.

He also voiced support for what he described as the IRGC’s plans for “fundamental and crushing measures,” expressing hope that such decisions would be implemented in practice.

Turning to diplomacy, Kowsari urged Iran’s negotiating team to remain vigilant and avoid making concessions under pressure.

“The other side should not assume it can easily extract concessions from Iran,” he said, pointing to developments in Lebanon as an example of what he characterized as Western inconsistency in dealing with regional issues and Israeli actions.

Kowsari concluded by calling on Iranian officials, including members of parliament, to pay closer attention to national security and foreign policy matters and to continue pursuing the course outlined by the country’s leadership.
