WANA (Sep 05) – Mohammad Esmail Kowsari, a member of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, said recent threats by U.S. President Donald Trump are largely part of a psychological warfare campaign, noting that Trump has repeatedly made threats only to back down from them in practice.

Kowsari pointed to Trump’s past statements, saying the U.S. president has made numerous “bluffs” and retreated from his positions on various occasions. He added that many of Trump’s statements lack a sound logical or rational basis.

According to Kowsari, some of Trump’s threats are intended primarily to create fear and anxiety. He stressed, however, that today’s international environment is fundamentally different from the era of the world wars, and countries are unlikely to allow military actions and violations to go unanswered.

The Iranian lawmaker also emphasized that the Islamic Republic has the capability to defend itself and will not remain defenseless in the face of threats.

Kowsari further argued that Washington’s reliance on threats and psychological warfare reflects what he described as its failure to prevail over Iran. He warned that continuing such an approach could further damage the United States’ standing and credibility while provoking a response from other countries.

He concluded by saying that the American people should respond to such policies and prevent their continuation, arguing that they could not only weaken Washington’s position but also trigger reciprocal reactions from other countries.
