WANA (Aug 06) – Kuwaiti authorities have ordered the closure of the only Iranian school in the country, with no official explanation provided by the Ministry of Education for the decision.

According to Agence France-Presse (AFP), a source at Kuwait’s Ministry of Education said officials had revoked the operating license of the Iranian private school and ordered its closure. A document seen by AFP stated: “The Minister of Education has issued a decision to revoke the educational license of the Iranian private school and close it.”

Under the decision, the school will no longer be allowed to accept new students for the upcoming academic year, and Kuwait’s Ministry of Education has asked parents to transfer their children to other schools.

The ministry source did not provide a reason for the closure. The move comes as Kuwait remains one of the countries hosting US military bases in the region, facilities that have been used during recent tensions for operations against Iran.

Iran has also targeted US military positions in Kuwait with missile and drone attacks in response to those operations.

The closure of the Iranian school comes amid a period of heightened tensions between Tehran and Kuwait. Earlier, Kuwait detained four Iranian nationals, a move criticized by Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei, who described the arrests as “unjustified” and expressed regret over what he called Kuwait’s failure to fulfill its obligations under international agreements.
