WANA (Jun 03) – The Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced today that it has summoned Iran’s Chargé d’Affaires and declared two Iranian diplomats persona non grata, ordering their immediate expulsion.

The diplomatic fallout follows a series of early morning missile and drone strikes launched by Iran against U.S. military installations within Kuwait, which Tehran claims were used as launchpads for American aggression against southern Iran.

Explosions Rock US Bases in Kuwait

Earlier this morning, Arab media outlets reported multiple explosions at the Ali Al Salem and Camp Arifjan military bases, both of which host American forces in Kuwait.

The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) subsequently issued a statement confirming that its installations in both Kuwait and Bahrain had been targeted by missile strikes.

Escalation in the Strait of Hormuz

According to military sources, the Iranian strikes were executed in direct retaliation for recent U.S. military operations, which reportedly targeted an Iranian oil tanker near the Strait of Hormuz and a telecommunications tower located on the southern coast of Qeshm Island.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) released a statement confirming that its Aerospace Force utilized precision missiles and UAVs to hit a U.S. air and helicopter base in the region, as well as the headquarters of the U.S. Navy’s Fifth Fleet.

The IRGC issued a stern warning in its communique, stating: “Disrupting the security of the Strait of Hormuz will carry a heavy price for the invading U.S. military.”

Concurrently, Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs defended the strikes as a legitimate act of self-defense, stating that Tehran “will utilize all capacities to counter aggressive actions in exercising its inherent right to defend its territorial integrity and national sovereignty, including targeting the origin and source of such hostile attacks.”

Kuwait Denies Involvement Amid US Praise

The diplomatic row deepens as Kuwait firmly denies allowing its territory to be used in the conflict, despite recent statements from Washington. Just yesterday, the U.S. Secretary of State praised Kuwait’s actions regarding Iran as “excellent.”

In its statement today, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs rejected Iran’s justification for the strikes, claiming neutrality: “We categorically reject the use of our territory or airspace for any hostile action against any country,” the ministry stated. “Iran’s baseless allegations are completely unfounded and unsupported by any evidence.”
