WANA (Feb 11) – The head of Hamas’ Leadership Council, Mohammad Darwish, met with Iran’s Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, Ali Larijani, in Doha on Wednesday, during which he briefed the Iranian official on developments in Gaza and stressed continued resistance and opposition to any aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran.

In a statement, the Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas said Darwish, accompanied by a delegation of senior Hamas officials, held talks with Larijani in the Qatari capital on regional political developments and the ongoing Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip.

According to the statement, Darwish presented a report on the military and humanitarian situation in Gaza, accusing Israel of violating the terms of the ceasefire agreement and continuing what he described as crimes against the Palestinian people.

He said Hamas remains committed to implementing the ceasefire agreement and does not seek a return to war, while emphasizing that Palestinian resistance remains steadfast in the face of continued pressure and is fulfilling its national and moral responsibilities toward the Palestinian people.

Darwish said the group’s priorities include halting aggression, lifting the blockade, ensuring the entry of humanitarian and relief aid, and addressing the situation of the wounded and affected civilians in Gaza.

The two sides also discussed rising tensions in “occupied Jerusalem and the West Bank”. Darwish criticized recent Israeli policies, including a Knesset move to annex parts of the West Bank, describing it as a dangerous step against the Palestinian people’s national and inalienable rights.

He reaffirmed Hamas’ solidarity with Iran and condemned any attack on Iranian territory, warning that any military action against Iran or any other country in the region could lead to instability and threaten regional security.

For his part, Larijani briefed the Hamas delegation on Iran’s latest domestic developments and ongoing negotiations with the United States. He reiterated Tehran’s firm support for the Palestinian cause and praised the steadfastness and sacrifices of the Palestinian people in confronting Israel.

Larijani stressed that Iran will continue to support the Palestinian struggle in various arenas, saying the Palestinian people have demonstrated outstanding examples of resilience and resistance at this stage.

The meeting was also attended by senior Hamas figures Khaled Meshaal, Nizar Awadallah, Hessam Badran, Sami Khater, and Basem Naim.
