Larijani: The Path to Negotiations with the U.S. Is Not Closed
WANA (Sep 02) – Ali Larijani, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, emphasized in a post on the social media platform X that the Islamic Republic has not shut the door on negotiations with the United States. He wrote: “The path to negotiations with the U.S. is not closed. The Americans only talk about negotiations but never come to the table, and they falsely claim that the Islamic Republic refuses to negotiate! In reality, we are seeking rational negotiations.”
Larijani went on to criticize certain U.S. demands, stating: “By raising issues that they themselves know are impossible to achieve—such as restrictions on Iran’s missile program—they propose a model that effectively rules out the possibility of negotiations.”
His remarks come at a time when several rounds of indirect talks between Iran and the United States, mediated by third countries in recent months, have yet to yield any concrete outcome.
