Larijani to Travel to Pakistan Today
WANA (Nov 24) – Ali Larijani, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, announced on social media that he will be traveling to Pakistan today.
In his message, Larijani stated: “Today, I am traveling to the friendly and brotherly country of Pakistan. Iranians will not forget that during the 12-day war by the Zionist regime and the United States against Iran, the people of Pakistan stood alongside the Iranian nation.”
Emphasizing the importance of the two countries’ roles in regional stability, he added: “Iran and Pakistan are key and influential actors in achieving lasting security in the region, and the Islamic Republic of Iran has always stressed strengthening fraternal relations among regional countries.”
Iran’s ambassador to Pakistan, Reza Amiri-Moghaddam, described the upcoming visit of Ali Larijani — Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council — to Islamabad as “unprecedented.”
In a post on X, he said the trip marks a “historic turning point” and a “pivotal moment” that will elevate the long-standing ties between the two neighboring nations to a new strategic level.
He added that, given the rapidly changing global landscape and emerging regional dynamics, drafting a new strategy and strengthening bilateral relations has become more essential than ever — a goal that he said will be significantly advanced through this visit.
Previously, Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf had traveled to Pakistan at the invitation of Ayaz Sadiq, Speaker of Pakistan’s National Assembly.
During his visit, Ghalibaf said that when Pakistan’s people, government, and parliament expressed solidarity with Iran during the twelve-day war, he decided to make Pakistan his first foreign destination after the conflict.
“It was Pakistan’s spirit of justice-seeking and courage that led it to stand by the Iranian nation during the cowardly attacks of the Zionist regime, which were carried out with the direct support and intervention of the United States,” he stated.
