WANA (Mar 15) – Ali Larijani, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, said Iran is not at war with the American people, while warning of what he described as a possible plot to stage an incident similar to the September 11 attacks and blame Tehran.

Writing on the messaging platform Eitaa as what Iranian officials describe as a war imposed on Iran by the United States and Israel continues, Larijani said he had heard that “remnants of the Epstein team” were allegedly working on a conspiracy to create a 9/11-style scenario and accuse Iran of carrying it out.

He stressed that Iran fundamentally opposes such terrorist operations and said the Islamic Republic’s confrontation is not with the American public.

“Iran is, in principle, opposed to such terrorist plans and has no war with the American people,” Larijani said.

He also said Iran is currently acting in self-defense in response to what he described as U.S. and Israeli military aggression, adding that Tehran would respond forcefully.

“Today, in response to the aggression of the United States and Israel against Iran, it is defending itself,” he said. “In this defense, however, it is acting with great strength and resolve in order to punish the aggressors.”
