Latest Statistics Released for Iranian Pilgrims in Mecca and Medina
WANA (May 22) – The Hajj Operations Headquarters has released the latest update on the influx of Iranian pilgrims to Saudi Arabia for the annual Hajj pilgrimage.
As of the end of Thursday, May 21, 2026, a total of 131 flights have transported 29,883 Iranian pilgrims from Iran to the Holy Land.
Pilgrim Distribution and Medina Operations Phase-Out
According to official data, there are currently 27,964 Iranian pilgrims in Mecca and 1,919 in Medina. Officials estimate that all Iranian pilgrims will have departed Medina for Mecca by tomorrow night. Following their departure, Iranian executive and healthcare services in Medina will officially conclude for the season.
Over One Million Meals Distributed
In the catering sector, centralized kitchens in both Mecca and Medina have cooked and distributed a cumulative total of 1,095,339 meals—covering breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The breakdown of food services includes:
- Standard Meals: 1,046,628 servings
- Dietary/Special Meals: 48,711 servings
- Healthcare Statistics
The Hajj medical unit reported that 81,115 healthcare services have been provided to Iranian pilgrims so far to ensure their well-being. These medical interventions include:
- General Practitioner Consultations: 32,636 visits
- Specialist Consultations: 7,327 visits
- Nursing Services: 9,448 instances
- Prescriptions Filled: 31,675
Hajj staff and executive teams continue to provide around-the-clock logistical, catering, and medical support to ensure that Iranian pilgrims can perform their Hajj rituals with peace of mind and full preparation.
