WANA (Aug 27) – Khark Island, Iran’s main oil export terminal, remains fully operational, with oil exports continuing without interruption.

 

Hamid Bourd, CEO of the National Iranian Oil Company, said that conditions on Khark Island are calm and stable. Despite repeated attacks and bombardments, oil industry personnel have ensured that operations at the terminal have not stopped for even a moment.

 

He added that several contractors are currently carrying out the rehabilitation and modernization of oil storage tanks. Reconstruction work on the jetties and storage facilities, along with previously planned projects, is also continuing without interruption.

 

Bourd emphasized that Khark remains active and that contractors are continuing to work on various projects, each at different stages of completion. According to him, some projects are currently around 20 percent complete, while others have reached approximately 30 percent.

 

The NIOC chief also identified oil storage management as one of the key measures taken by the oil industry during the war. He said Iran has significant strategic oil storage capacity located in various areas, including islands, mainland facilities and locations outside the country.

 

Khark Island, Iran’s main oil export terminal, plays a strategic role in the country’s crude oil exports and foreign-exchange revenues. More than 90 percent of Iran’s oil exports are shipped to global markets through this strategic island in the Persian Gulf.
