WANA (Feb 07) – Iran’s Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, Major General Seyed Abdolrahim Mousavi, warned that any military action against Iran would impose “heavy and irreparable costs” on those who plan or support it.
In a message issued on the occasion of Iran’s Air Force Day, Mousavi said Iran’s adversaries are fully aware that any attempt to impose war on the Islamic Republic would not only end in their “definitive and strategic defeat,” but would also expand the scope of conflict and crisis across the entire region.
He said such actions would impose “serious and irreparable costs” on the architects and backers of any military campaign against Iran.
Mousavi stressed that Iran would never be the initiator of a war, but said the country would not hesitate to defend its national security, vital interests, and territorial integrity.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran will not hesitate for a moment in decisively defending its national security, vital interests, and territorial integrity,” he said.

WANA (Feb 07) – Lebanese broadcaster Al Mayadeen reported that Iran has defined the framework for the ongoing negotiations in Muscat, saying Tehran has succeeded in shaping the agenda and terms of the talks.
In an analysis, Al Mayadeen said Iran’s insistence on limiting the negotiations to the nuclear file is aimed at establishing a direct link between any nuclear commitments by Tehran and the lifting of U.S. sanctions.
The report said restricting the talks to the nuclear issue represents a recalibration of Iran’s position of power both domestically and internationally, and constitutes a direct challenge to what it described as Washington’s traditional influence.
According to the analysis, Iran has managed to impose its conditions at the negotiating table, demonstrating that developments in the coming days will not stem from retreat, but will instead unfold within a framework defined by Tehran.
Trump Authorizes Tariffs on Countries Trading With Iran
WANA (Feb 07) – U.S. President Donald Trump on Saturday signed an executive order allowing Washington to impose additional tariffs on imports from countries that buy goods or services from Iran.
The order reaffirms a U.S. “national emergency” over Iran and creates a mechanism to penalize countries that directly or indirectly trade with Tehran, according to a White House fact sheet.
Trump had previously warned of 25% tariffs on countries cooperating with Iran. The order allows for changes if conditions shift or if Iran and affected countries take steps to address U.S. concerns.
U.S. officials were directed to draft rules to implement the new tariff system. The fact sheet also repeats U.S. allegations regarding Iran’s nuclear program, missile activities, and regional policies.
