Launch Date Set for Three Iranian Satellites
WANA (Dec 11) – Iran has finalized the launch date for three remote-sensing satellites that were initially planned for liftoff this winter.
The satellites—Kowsar, Zafar-2, and Paya—are scheduled to be launched on Sunday, December 28, at 16:48 Iran time from Russia’s Vostochny Cosmodrome aboard a Soyuz rocket.
These satellites are part of Iran’s remote-sensing program, designed for imaging and data transmission.
Satellite imagery is used across multiple fields, including agriculture, forest monitoring, drought assessment, flood and wildfire tracking, air-pollution analysis, climate change studies, mineral exploration, and natural resource management.
In agriculture, for example, precise data on land conditions, soil moisture, crop health, and weather patterns help farmers reduce costs while increasing yields.
The imagery enables farmers and agricultural managers to optimize water, fertilizer, and pesticide use, anticipate drought or pest damage earlier, and make more accurate and stable pricing decisions—ultimately reducing market volatility and improving productivity and profitability.
