WANA (Nov 16) – Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi hailed the “steadfastness and resilience” of the Lebanese people in the face of Israeli aggression and threats, describing the role of Nabih Berri, Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, as “exceptional and invaluable” in preserving Lebanon’s national unity and cohesion.

 

The remarks came during a meeting in Tehran with Ali Hassan Khalil, the political deputy to the Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, on the sidelines of the international conference titled ‘International Law Under Assault: Aggression and Self-Defense’ at the Institute for Political and International Studies (IPIS) of Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

 

Lebanese Envoy Conveys Berri’s Message

During the meeting, Khalil conveyed warm greetings from Speaker Nabih Berri to the Iranian foreign minister and senior officials of the Islamic Republic. He also outlined his views on the latest political and security developments in Lebanon and the wider region.

 

Khalil emphasized the commitment of Lebanon’s government institutions and its people to strengthening unity in the face of continuing threats and repeated ceasefire violations by the Israeli regime. He expressed gratitude for Iran’s continued support for Lebanon.

 

Araghchi Reaffirms Support for Lebanon

Foreign Minister Araghchi reiterated Iran’s admiration for Lebanon’s endurance under Israeli military pressure and stressed the distinguished role of Speaker Berri in defending Lebanon’s national consensus against Israeli “aggression and deception.”

 

Highlighting the ongoing Israeli violations and threats, Araghchi underscored the importance of vigilance and unity among Lebanon’s government, people, and political groups in safeguarding the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

 

The foreign minister also reaffirmed Iran’s continued support for the Lebanese government, people, and resistance, and said Tehran would maintain consultations with regional countries to counter Israeli expansionism.

 

Araghchi further stressed Iran’s determination to strengthen bilateral relations with Lebanon across all areas of mutual interest.

 

This Lebanese official had also met yesterday with Ali Larijani, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council.
