Lebanon is an Inseparable Part of Any Final Ceasefire Agreement
WANA (Jun 02) – The spokesperson for the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of the Iranian Parliament stated that, according to the Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs, the ministry’s firm stance is that Lebanon must be included in any final agreement, as it remains an inseparable part of the ceasefire.
Ebrahim Rezaei briefed reporters on Tuesday (June 2) regarding today’s committee session. He noted that Majid Takht-Ravanchi, the Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs, presented a comprehensive report on the latest regional developments and diplomatic efforts, particularly concerning the establishment of security and a ceasefire in Lebanon.
Takht-Ravanchi emphasized that from the Foreign Ministry’s perspective, Lebanon must be a focal point in the final agreement, describing it as an inseparable component of the ceasefire while pushing for an end to hostilities, specifically in Lebanon.
The spokesperson added that the Deputy Foreign Minister also provided a briefing on field developments in Lebanon, while officials from the Ministry of Intelligence outlined the latest security situation in the country.
Additionally, Abbas Golroo, the chairman of the committee’s Foreign Relations Subcommittee, delivered a report to members regarding the regional situation, with a specific focus on Hezbollah.
Total Support for Hezbollah and the Lebanese People
Highlighting the views expressed by the committee members during the session, Rezaei said: “The members underscored the Islamic Republic of Iran’s decisive support for the Islamic Resistance, particularly in Lebanon. The Islamic Republic will never forget Hezbollah’s comprehensive defense and support of the Iranian nation, especially during the 40-day war. Iran stands shoulder-to-shoulder with the Lebanese people and emphasizes all-out backing for Lebanese Hezbollah.”
He added that committee members demanded a decisive and harsh response to the crimes committed by the Israeli regime in Lebanon. They also stressed the need to utilize all available tools and capacities to aid the Resistance, calling for synergy to strengthen both domestic resilience and the broader Axis of Resistance.
During the meeting, Ali Nikzad, the First Deputy Speaker of the Parliament, commended the National Security Committee for actively monitoring regional issues and developments since the outbreak of the conflict. He revealed that since the beginning of the recent war, the Parliament has held 150 oversight sessions alongside four webinar-based meetings.
The Deputy Speaker also emphasized the importance of reviewing and passing the “Strategic Action Plan to Safeguard the Security of the Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf” on the floor of Parliament to enact it into law.
The high-level briefing was also attended by several officials from the Ministry of Intelligence, as well as Vahid Jalalzadeh, the Deputy Foreign Minister for Consular, Parliamentary, and Iranian Expatriates’ Affairs.
