If the U S. wishes to crater its economy by letting Netanyahu kill diplomacy, that would ultimately be its choice. We think that would be dumb but are prepared for it.”

Day 41 of the War

WANA (Apr 09) – The second day of the temporary two-week ceasefire begins under the heavy shadow of broken promises and contradictory statements, casting serious doubt over the prospects of the sensitive negotiations in Islamabad.
While Donald Trump attempts to portray Iran’s acceptance of the ten-point framework as a “major breakthrough” for Washington, the explicit violation of three key provisions of the agreement — including the continuation of deadly Israeli attacks on Lebanon and the denial of the right to enrichment — has drawn a firm response from Tehran, along with a critical statement from the Speaker of Parliament.
Now, with senior Iranian officials warning that negotiations lose their meaning in the face of repeated breaches, and raising the possibility of a complete withdrawal from the agreement, diplomacy stands on the edge of a precipice—one that could, at any moment, return the region to pre-ceasefire conditions.

Just minutes ago, Donald Trump wrote in a post on his social media platform, Truth Social: “Until a real agreement is fully implemented, all U.S. ships, aircraft, and military personnel—along with ammunition, weapons, and anything else necessary and appropriate to carry out deadly force and the complete destruction of an enemy that has already been significantly weakened—will remain in and around Iran.”
Pakistan: Lebanon Still Part of the Ceasefire
WANA (Apr 09) – Pakistan’s ambassador to Washington has emphasized that Lebanon remains part of the ceasefire agreement brokered by Pakistan’s prime minister, even if Israel and the United States insist otherwise.
On Wednesday evening, Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, referring to the escalation of Israeli attacks on Lebanon, stated that this was not a new agreement reached on Tuesday. Rather, Lebanon continues to be included in the ceasefire deal that Pakistan’s prime minister helped mediate a day earlier.
Ghalibaf: After Three Clear Violations, Ceasefire and Talks No Longer Meaningful
WANA (Apr 09) – Iran’s Parliament Speaker said that following “three clear violations of key provisions in the agreed framework prior to the start of negotiations,” neither a bilateral ceasefire nor further talks hold any meaning under the current circumstances.
Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, in a statement posted on the social media platform X, wrote that the Islamic Republic of Iran had from the outset approached the process with distrust and, as anticipated, the United States had once again violated its commitments even before formal negotiations began.
