As the world’s largest oil exporter, Saudi Arabia is moving more oil to the Yanbu port on the Red Sea coast, but pipelines primarily carry light crude, leaving heavy and medium crude production significantly affected.
The International Energy Agency (IEA) noted that total oil production from Gulf countries, including Iraq, Qatar, Kuwait, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia, has fallen by at least 10 million barrels per day. Analysts warn that without a swift resumption of shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, production losses could worsen, potentially intensifying energy market volatility in Asia and global inflationary pressures.
