Iran’s Negotiation Conditions Outlined by Deputy Foreign Minister

WANA (May 18) – Iran will require a total cessation of hostilities across all fronts, the withdrawal of U.S. forces from the region, and the complete lifting of sanctions and maritime blockades in any potential agreement, a senior diplomat stated during a parliamentary briefing.

Ebrahim Rezaei, the spokesperson for the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, detailed these conditions on Monday following a committee session with Kazem Gharibabadi, the Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs.

According to Rezaei, Gharibabadi provided lawmakers with an overview of diplomatic developments, including the recent BRICS summit attended by Iran’s Foreign Minister, and high-level diplomatic missions to Moscow and Beijing.

WANA (May 18) – Esmail Kowsari, a member of the Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, told reporters that diplomacy with the U.S. will not yield results.

“When an agreement was reached, signed, and finalized, the gambler Trump tore it all up,” Kowsari said. “Now that we are in a state of war, and they have lost, the situation is clear.”

Kowsari concluded that Trump is merely attempting to portray himself as a winner, which is impossible, declaring that Iran will “definitely and certainly not achieve any results through negotiations.”

Latest video from the Strait of Hormuz; Passage Possible Only with Iran’s Approval

WANA (May 18) – The Strait of Hormuz has reportedly been closed following recent U.S. and Israeli attacks on Iran, with access to the Persian Gulf now possible only under the authorization and control of the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Oil Prices Surge at Market Opening

WANA (May 18) – Global oil markets opened sharply higher in the first seconds of trading today, marking the twelfth market opening since the military strikes on Iran by the United States and Israel.

In the initial moments of the trading session, Brent crude reached $111 per barrel. Prior to the onset of the Ramadan War, Brent crude was valued at just over $65 per barrel.

Three More Iranian Tankers Break U.S. Blockade

WANA (May 18) – Satellite data has shown that three more tankers have been added to Iran’s storage capacity.

TankerTrackers, a company that assists the U.S. in tracking oil shipments, says three Iranian tankers broke the U.S. blockade line using three different tactics. One turned off its automatic tracker, another raised a Russian flag, and the third used the Oman coastline.

More than a month has passed since the U.S. naval blockade of Iranian ports. U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has said several times that Iran’s storage capacity on Kharg Island has run out, but based on monitoring by TankerTrackers, Iran has more than a month of time left, provided that no other tanker enters the blockade.

This is a developing story and will be updated as new information becomes available.
