WANA (Jan 11) – London police said two people were arrested following a gathering and an incident involving the Iranian Embassy in London.

 

According to reports, on Saturday afternoon, January 10, one individual described as an anti-government activist climbed the exterior of the building housing the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in London and interfered with the Iranian flag.

 

Footage of the incident was quickly shared on social media and subsequently picked up by foreign media outlets. Fox News, a U.S. media outlet close to former President Donald Trump, covered the incident, and Trump reacted by reposting the footage.

 

London police said that during the gathering outside the Iranian Embassy in the Kensington area, two individuals were arrested. One was detained on suspicion of trespassing and assaulting a police officer, while the second was arrested on suspicion of trespassing.

 

Police also said another individual has been identified and is being pursued on suspicion of trespassing, adding that officers will remain at the scene to ensure the security of the embassy.

 

Following the incident, the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in London confirmed that the country’s official flag has been reinstalled at the site.
