WANA (Aug 11) – Major General Mohsen Rezaei, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, has expressed his appreciation for the trust placed in him by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution and the President, stressing that Iran will not back down from defending its national rights and interests in the face of threats.

 

In a message, Rezaei described his new responsibility as a heavy trust before the Iranian people, those who lost their lives, the Islamic Republic, and Iran’s history. He emphasized that decisions concerning national security must be made more decisively than in the past, based on a clear understanding of circumstances, prudence and courage.

 

Rezaei said the objective is not merely to overcome a difficult and sensitive period, but to ensure that Iran emerges from it “safer, more cohesive, stronger and with greater capacity for progress and development.”

 

He stressed that national security cannot be separated from the people’s well-being and livelihoods, economic stability, social cohesion, defense capabilities, diplomatic strength and the country’s social capital. According to Rezaei, these elements together constitute Iran’s national power and should serve the common goal of protecting Iran, the Islamic Republic and its values, as well as securing a prosperous future for the Iranian people.

 

Regarding foreign policy, Rezaei said Iran’s approach would focus on strengthening deterrence, resisting pressure and coercion, responding swiftly and decisively to any aggression, safeguarding the country’s national interests, making effective use of diplomatic capabilities, pursuing strong engagement with the international community, and maintaining readiness against potential threats.

 

The Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council also described national unity and solidarity between the people and government officials as a “strategic necessity,” stressing that Iran needs trust, greater social cohesion and prudent decision-making to navigate what he described as a significant historical period.

 

Rezaei concluded by pledging to use all his capabilities, relying on the country’s vast national potential and the support of the relevant institutions, to strengthen Iran’s power and ensure that the country continues to contribute to stability, strength and security in the region.
