WANA (Aug 30) – The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) has reported a maritime incident in the Strait of Hormuz, stating that an oil tanker was struck by an unidentified projectile while transiting toward the Persian Gulf.

 

In a statement issued Sunday evening, the UKMTO confirmed receiving a report regarding an attack on a tanker located 12 nautical miles north of Khasab in the Sea of Oman.

 

“The tanker was struck by an unknown projectile while bound for the Persian Gulf via the Strait of Hormuz,” the statement read.

 

The agency emphasized that there have been no reports of casualties or environmental damage resulting from the attack.
