Meeting Between Iranian and Lebanese Presidents in Doha
WANA (Sep 15) – On Monday evening, September 15, 2025, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian met with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun on the sidelines of the emergency summit of Islamic and Arab leaders in Doha, Qatar.
Expressing satisfaction with the meeting, President Pezeshkian said: “From the very beginning of my presidential campaign in Iran, I have sought to strengthen unity and cohesion both within Iran and among neighboring and Muslim countries, while also enhancing relations with the wider world. I continue to pursue this path in practice.”
He emphasized that the Islamic Republic of Iran seeks to expand cooperation and deepen relations with Lebanon and other countries in the region on the basis of mutual respect and shared interests, rooted in a win–win approach. “Our approach to strengthening solidarity and cooperation with our neighbors and regional partners is drawn from our religious teachings. We believe that ‘whatever we wish for ourselves, we should wish for others as well.’ If this principle guides our actions, our relations will never face difficulties. I hope that Iran and Lebanon can further develop their ties on the basis of justice and fairness.”
Referring to developments in Gaza, Pezeshkian added: “The conduct of Israel shows it recognizes no limits or boundaries. What we are witnessing today reflects its aggressive and brutal nature. What is even more regrettable is that countries claiming to defend freedom and human rights remain silent in the face of massacres and starvation in Gaza, while providing Israel with military and legal support.”
For his part, President Joseph Aoun welcomed the opportunity to meet President Pezeshkian and stressed Lebanon’s interest in maintaining friendly relations with Iran based on respect and mutual benefit. “I fully agree with what you have stated, and I hope that we can overcome any obstacles in the way of developing bilateral relations, further expanding cooperation and exchanges between Lebanon and Iran,” he said.
Aoun added: “We wish Iran progress, prosperity, and stability, and we condemn Israel’s aggression against the Islamic Republic. Differences of opinion among countries are natural, but through dialogue and continuous cooperation, we can overcome any obstacles to strengthening our friendship.”
